Once upon a time — in the far away land of Mount Pleasant, Iowa — Sidney Davis and Laura Kerr crossed paths. From that very moment, they were inseparable.

​

Their first official date was the freshman graduation dance on May 16, 1985. Not long after, their love grew so strong that a red-headed baby girl arrived for their sweet sixteen — Ashley, born in February 1987. In most stories, this is where young couples drift apart… but for Sid and Laura, this is where their story truly began.

​

They beat the odds and remained high school sweethearts. After graduation, they faced long-distance college life — Sid attending William Penn for Computer Science and Laura attending AIB in Des Moines for Business and Secretarial degrees. Even then, they knew they were meant to do life together.

​

They were married in 1991 and purchased their first home in Oskaloosa, IA. In 1994, while expecting their second daughter,they moved back to Mount Pleasant for extra family support — to the home their children would later call “the white house.” Abi was born in May 1994.

​

This season marked growth in both family and career. Sid joined the family business, Davis Homes, and Laura continued growing her career in finance. In 1999, their third daughter, Aliya, was born. Soon after, the family outgrew their home and moved down the lane, where they truly planted their roots.

​

In 2004, Sid and Laura opened their home and hearts to foster children, providing a safe place for those in need. One special boy made “no” impossible — and Blake officially became part of their family.

​

In 2008, Sid and Laura purchased Davis Homes, and in 2009, Laura transitioned into running the office. Together, they grew the business into the thriving company it is today — built on partnership, perseverance, and faith.

Their family continued to grow:

• Ashley married Nate in 2011, welcoming Alisabeth (2013), Benaiah (2014), and Malachi (2016)
   

• Abi welcomed Anika (2015) and later married Korey (2021), growing her family with stepchildren Jayde, Tech, and Drayton
   

• Aliya married manny (2021) and welcomed Lorenzo (2024)
   

• In 2025, Abi and Aliya welcomed Nadia and Mateo
   

• Jayde added Elizabeth and CJ
   

Through every season, Sid and Laura didn’t just grow a family — they grew a foundation of faith. They modeled what it looks like to follow Jesus and keep Him at the center of their home.

​

In 2020, they purchased Peaceful Waters, creating another place where family could gather, rest, and grow closer to God and one another.

 

Sid and Laura’s love is a testament to enduring commitment, choosing Jesus daily, and trusting Him through both the joyful and the hard days. They beat every odd — beginning as teenagers in love and building a life that now includes four children, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

​

Ultimately, Sid and Laura desire to share Christ’s love and encourage others to grow in their relationship with Him. They would not be where they are today without Jesus. If you ever wonder where to start, they would gladly walk alongside you.
